Monsoon to retreat by Oct 25
The IMD has predicted that monsoon would fully withdraw from the city by October 25. The IMD said cyclone ‘Giri’ that has developed in the Bay of Bengal would not affect the Indian region. “There is no major low pressure system developing in the Bay of Bengal,which is also a sign that rain affect would decrease by this weekend,” said Medha Khole,director of (weather forecasting) IMD,Pune. “There is prediction of rain or thunder showers in the city on Friday. However,the city will see more dry weather after October 25,” she added.

Doctors’ strike at YCMH
Patients had to suffer for more than two hours as doctors at Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital (YCMH) called for a strike on Thursday to protest against the ‘unconstitutional’ comments made by corporators against doctors at the general body meeting of PMCM on Wednesday. All departments,including the OPD,were shut on Thursday. They withdrew the strike after Mayor Yogesh Behl met them.
