A 19-year-old youth lost life and two others,who were riding pillion with him,were injured after their bike rammed into a divider on the Pune-Mumbai Highway in Kasarwadi around 1.30 am on Sunday.

Youth killed in road mishap

Pune: A 19-year-old youth lost life and two others,who were riding pillion with him,were injured after their bike rammed into a divider on the Pune-Mumbai Highway in Kasarwadi around 1.30 am on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Rajendra Channoram Chaudhari,a resident of Bijalinagar,Chinchwad. His two friends,Aakash Nagara and Prateek Tandon,were seriously injured and are undergoing treatment at a private hospital. Muralidhar Bokad,a sub-inspector with the Bhosari Police Station,said,“The accident took place when they were near Sandvik.”

Oranaments worth Rs 1.5 lakh stolenM

PUNE: Gold ornaments worth Rs 1.5 lakh were stolen in three different chain snatching incidents that occurred in the city on Sunday and Saturday. The cases have been registered at Bundgarden,Vishrambaug and Khadak police stations.

A chain was snatched from 38-year-old Vandana Khatri of Kothrud when she was on her way along with husband to attend a function on Saturday night. In another incident,Asha Dilip Jokhe (50) of Sadashiv Peth was robbed of her gold chain on Sunday around 7 am. In the third incident, assailants snatched a gold chain from 23-year old Hemal Piyush Patel of Phule Peth on Sunday morning.
