Bystronic Laser India Private Limited,a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bystronic Laser AG,Switzerland,has opened a state-of-the-art demo centre on Tadiwala Road,Pune. The centre was inaugurated by Ferbi Tongi,CEO and president,Bystronic Laser AG and Johann Ifanger,president (marketing). This is the first Bystronic demo centre in India. “We have made an initial investment of Rs 1,000 lakh to ramp up the Indian operations and this investment has primarily gone in procuring the required machinery,spares and in creating the required infrastructure,” said Tongi. “We chose Pune as it is well connected to all the parts of the country. Apart from being a major auto hub,Pune also has a manufacturing base of construction equipment and earth movers,” he added. Bystronic offers a range of products in cutting and bending machines such as laser,waterjet and three types of press brakes along with software support and after-sales service. The company is targeting sectors like textile machine manufacturers,construction equipment companies,railways and job shops as part of its expansion plans.

Volkswagen sells 6,185 vehicles in month

Volkswagen sold 6,185 vehicles last month,a 200-fold increase over sales last year with Polo and Vento selling the most 5,889 units. The recent launch,Passat,with Blue Motion technologies sold 184 units. The sale performance was phenomenal,said Neeraj Garg,member of board and director,Volkswagen passenger cars,Volkswagen Group (sales) India.

Kirloskar Oil gets National Record 2011

Kirloskar Oil Engines Ltd was awarded the National Record 2011 for having signed an in time wage agreement for the sixth consecutive time since 1995 before the expiry of the previous agreement. The feat has been taken note of by Limca Book of Records as the company didn’t face loss of even a single man-day on account of labour unrest in the last 50 years. The Limca Book Records certificate was unveiled at a function in the city.

Dan Cake,Phadnis Group in joint venture

Dan Cake,Portugal,has entered into a joint venture (JV) with Phadnis Group for its bakery and confectionary products in India. The move was announced by Kantilal Jamnadas,chairman of board,Dan Cake,Portugal. Pune-based Phadnis Group is into real estate,infrastructure,hospitality and IT. “We would be making our Danesita brand stronger in the Indian market. Danesita is already popular and established in many European countries for its range of products including cookies,biscuits,Swiss rolls,family cakes,” said Jamnadas.
