Having recently opened shop next to Bounty Sizzlers in Kalyani Nagar, the Red Dragon restaurant has been steadily attracting diners, who include both students and working professionals. With a bright, colourful ambience and one which is distinctly Oriental, the restaurant scores high on an understated décor theme. The idea was to make the interiors distinct without going over-the-top, informs Rajeev Raut of Red Dragon. The food has a lot of unique preparations, all of them the brainchild of Chef Richard, who hails from the Chinese majority area of Kolkata, adds Raut.
The ambience is quintessentially Oriental and the interior designer does a good job of making the most of the available space; some decor items, particularly the quaint telephone (which works!) and porcelain wall pieces are a class apart. The menu has a line-up of soups, dimsums, starters (chicken, seafood, vegetarian),main course (chicken, seafood, lamb, vegetarian),rice, noodles and something called stir fry bowls. The stir fry bowl is like a complete meal in itself, where you have such choices as Korean Rice Bowl,Oyster Chilly Bowl,Okayo (rice) in veg, chicken and seafood, says Chef Richard. From July 13,we will also be starting a special mini-meal during lunch hours priced at Rs 195,which will include soup, starters, main course and a soft drink, adds Raut.
Head here for a pleasant, wholesome dining experience. Aided by the carefully-created ambience, youll get the feeling of actually dining in a Far East restaurant and the food only goes to complement the mood. The service at this joint is prompt and attentive and a special mention of Chef Richard is warranted,as he comes up with novel, interesting suggestions for choice of dishes and some unique preparations,to boot.
