For most first time writers,a brush with writing involves telling their own personal stories under different names with a garb of fiction worn over it. But for mechanical engineer Pawan Yadav, his first book deals with the setting up and running of software firm. The book ‘Bootstrapping a Software Company’ not only gives a detailed analysis of how to set up a software firm, but also speaks about the problems faced while venturing out into an endeavour like this.

“The book is not just a simple collection of tales of successful software company head honchos but deals with various facets of setting up a software firm. Right from conceptualising the idea,to doing the post set up studies on the progress of the firm its all compiled together in the book,” says Yadav adding,”When I was trying to analyse the reasons behind why a couple of my friends were unable to sustain a software firm they had started some months back. As I began to delve deeper into the finer nuances of the same,I realised that unlike setting up a mechanical company the cost for software firm was very cheap as it didn’t involve huge bulky machinery. As a result the decision to write this book was taken.”

Divided into five sections, the book deals with interesting sections that include a word from successful entrepreneurs,an overview of the software industry, the planning required before setting up a company, the execution of the same, and the post-set-up management of the company. “An important aspect that I wished to cover while writing the book was any software professional who wished to set up shop for himself or herself should not be venturing into uncharted territories. The second section of the book deals with the overview of the software industry, the evolution of the same the current situation of the Indian markets, and the opportunities for Indian aspirants which is of prime importance for someone looking to start a new venture,” says he.

The book was launched recently at the Army Institute of Technology.
