Author and counsellor Ratna Joshi’s book Inner Journey finds answers through a simple search within

My book,Inner Journey, starts with a chapter on how my grandmother had answers to all of my questions. She was not much educated yet she had practical answers to all my confusions and queries through a simple method of introspection. She would ask me to look for answers within myself. The method though sounded unusual, but was miraculously effective,” says author Ratna Joshi.

Joshi, who is a counselor, has penned down her experiences that she had while meeting different people and also while counseling some of them. “Every counseling session was either sweet or complex, but definitely new. So penning it down seemed the most correct and natural thing to me,so that I can share it with people, and tell them how they too can be their own ideal and be self-dependent when it comes to solving problems,” she adds.

In her career as a counselor, many cases have either emotionally drained her out or left her with questions, and many have even been eye-openers,says Joshi, however the method of seeking answers within has always helped her. “Unbelievable but true,I have come across cases of domestic violence in families that command respect in society. Apart from this there have been cases of cheating, harassment and much more. I now take up counseling as a social cause and not a profession,” she says.

The book,Inner Journey, was selected and published by the US based publishing house Dorrance Publishing and Company. The book is also available on Amazon.com. “The response has been very encouraging. Dorrance Publishing will bring the book to India in September. Amazon released the book in the UK and 10 days post-release,there were only three copies left. More than the number of copies, the mails and messages that I receive from all over America is overwhelming. After the release I have received many messages where they sought my advice.”

Joshi is already working on her next book Toss. “We toss a coin when we need an answer that is best given by destiny. The general psychology is that we want answers from fate and therefore I chose the word.”

Joshi,a mother of three boys, says that her family has been her strongest support. “I get calls at weird hours and I have to attend to people when they call. My family very patiently not only cooperates but also helps,” she says.
