The final merit list for bifocal courses at junior colleges (Std XI) were announced by the Centralised Admission Process (CAP) committee on Thursday afternoon. Centralised table admissions to 4,925 seats will begin at 9 am on Friday at Fergusson College. As many as 5,282 applications have been received for the courses so far. Though the admission process was scheduled to start on July 11,it was later postponed to July 15 owing to uncertainty over the admissions of CBSE students.
The admission processes will be held in two sessions, the first one being for pre-vocational technical courses (for which 40 per cent of the seats have been reserved),seats reserved for physically-challenged students and seats reserved under the ex-servicemen quota. This session will start at 9am and end at 11 am. This will be followed by the second round that will begin at 11 am.
Deputy District Professional Education Officer (Pune) DC Nevse said,We have reserved 40 per cent seats for pre-vocational technical courses. But Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad have very few colleges offering such courses. So the entire 40 per cent seats have not filled up and seats are passed on to the other categories.
In the science stream,2,700 seats are available for computer science,1,800 for electronics,100 for electrical maintenance,100 for mechanical maintenance,175 for scooter and motorcycle servicing and 50 for general civil engineering.
Of the 4,925 seats,10 per cent seats have been reserved under the non-grant management quota, which includes courses like computer science and electronics. Minority institutions are allowed to reserve 50 per cent of their seats. Thus the total seats available for admissions are 4,078 for other categories.
In the commerce stream, the bifocal subjects available include banking, marketing and sales management. Admissions for these courses will not be held under the table admission system. Institutions offering such courses will conduct admissions separately.
Rekha Palshikar,vice-principal of Fergusson College, has urged the students to reach the venue before time so that the verification of their documents can be completed before their turn for admissions comes. Students need to ensure that they reach before time. If they are not ready with all the documents at the time when their names are called out, they might miss the bus, said Palshikar.
Students must carry their original marksheets,School Leaving Certificates and other documents mentioned in the prospectus. We will collect the documents and issue a letter stating they have submitted their documents. Then the documents will be forwarded to the respective colleges, said Palshikar.
