Pune police on Sunday arrested a man for allegedly forging the will document of an elderly couple to grab their property,police said. Sanjay Muralidhar Shedute (39),a resident of Baner,forged the document when the couple was on a tour to Germany,they said.
Archana Arvind Patil (68),a resident of Saraswati Sadan in Shivajinagar,had filed an FIR on January 2. Police are yet to arrest another suspect Praveen Sudhakar Udancchu,a resident of Balewadi Phata.
Police said the couple own properties worth crores bungalows in Sus village,Shivajinagar,Jalgaon besides some land in Bavdhan.
According to the complaint,Archanas husband Arvind Ghanashyam Patil often visited Berlin to meet their son. The accused,whom the couple knew for several years,forged the will in November,2011 when the couple was in Germany. In November,2012,the accused got the will document stamped at the notary in Shivajinagar court. Later,he and his aide submitted the document at talathi office in Bavdhan Budruk showing that over three acres of land in various survey numbers in the village had been given to him by the couple.
However,the couple discovered they have been cheated in January this year and approached the police.
Seema Mehandale,inspector ( crime),Shivajinagar police station,said Shedute is the brother-in-law of Udancchu,who actually prepared the bogus will. Police are on the look out for other accused,he added.
A court of Judicial Magistrate First Class remanded Shedute in police custody till June 22 .
Meanwhile,Arvind Patil passed away on January 28.
