ATKT admissions from Thursday

The centralised admission procedure committee has decided to start the admission process for the SSC students availing ATKT from Thursday.

The centralised admission procedure (CAP) committee has decided to start the admission process for the SSC students availing ATKT from Thursday. The admissions will be done through table admission process to have transparency.

There are around 5,000 students in Pune and Pimpri- Chinchwad who are failed in one or two subjects in SSC exams. The education department will have to increase the seats of class 11 in some junior colleges to accommodate these students.

According to the press note issued by the CAP committee,the sale of application forms will start from August 6 at 11 am in 12 centres in Pune and Pimpri- hinchwad. The sale will take place on August 6 and 7. The forms will be accepted on the same centres from August 6 to 8 between 11 am to 5 pm.

On August 10,provisional merit list will be displayed in five colleges – S P,Fergusson,Garware,Wadia and Mhalsakant College. The students will be given time to file their grievances till 5 pm on the same day. The final merit list will be displayed on August 12. The admissions will be given on August 13,17 and 18 through table admission process as per the merit and reservation rules.

As per the rules,ATKT is available for those students who have failed in one or two subjects. To secure admission in science stream,the students must have 40 per cent marks in science subject in SSC.

The sale of forms will take place in 12 colleges – S P College,Tilak Road,Shahu College,Parvati,Sundarabai Rathi Junior College,Laxmi Road,S V Union Junior College,Ness Wadia College,Genba Sopanrao Moze College,Yerawada,Sadhana Junior College,Hadapsar,Vimlabai Garware Junior College,Karve Road,BMCC,Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Junior College,Aundh,Mahatma Phule College,Pimpri and Fattechand Jain College,Chinchwad.

Though there will be independent admission process for the ATKT students,now the question before the education department is as to how to accommodate the students. “We have many vacant seats in arts stream. However,there will be problem for science and commerce stream. In that case once we get the idea about the inclination of students,we can increase the seats in some colleges,” said Sunil Magar,deputy director of education department.
