Assembly polls: not waiting for alliance,NCP invites applications from aspirants

With no sign of any alliance yet between the Congress and NCP for the forthcoming assembly elections,the city unit of NCP on Monday invited applications from probable candidates from the eight assembly segements of the city.

“We have invited applications of probables for all the eight assembly segment and the process has already begun,” city NCP spokesperson Ankush Kakade said.

He said the probables seeking party ticket from Kothrud,Shivajinagar,Khadakwasla,Wadgaonsheri,Hadapsar,Kasba Peth,Pune Cantonment and Parvati assembly segment can submit their forms at the party office.

Those applying for open seat have to pay Rs 2,000 while those for the reserved category has to pay Rs 1,000 along with the application,Kakade said adding the applications can be submitted till August 27.

The interviews of the candidates will be conducted at Mumbai from next week onwards.

Meanwhile,NCP leader and Guardian minister Ajit Pawar said the alliance in the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC),after the Shiv Sena-BJP parted ways,will now be with the like-minded parties and by keeping the saffron parties away from power.

Last week,the Sena and BJP had snapped ties with the NCP at the civic body ahead of the assembly polls. Congress had clarified that the alliance with the NCP will be depending on the political situation for the assembly polls.
