Ruby Reunion
The IIT Bombay batch of 1971 celebrated its 40th,that is its Ruby Reunion,at Le Meridien and Amar Shrushti over the weekend. The ’71 alumni came from all parts of the country and from various sectors – company heads,professors,businessmen,civic activists and so on. Accompanied by their families,the alumni spent the two days in reliving their days at IIT B and regaling their families with interesting anecdotes. The IIT B Chemical Engineering batch of 1971 has even decided to found a Chair for Thermodynamics in the name of late Professor T S Raghunathan who taught them the subject. The reunion was organised by Niranjan Bhat,K Rajaram,C D Agarwal and Satish Khot.
Children’s Fun Fair
Blossom,the Amdocs CSR arm,recently organised a Childrens Day Fun Fair at its premises. The festivities were enjoyed by the children of various Blossom NGOs like Annapurna,Hope House,Prayatna,Arunaashray and Hope for The Childrens Foundation. Fancy dress and dance competitions,activities like paper craft,tattoo making and a magic show,cartoon characters and game stalls kept the kids engaged. Blossom’s focus is on ‘Supporting child education and healthcare’. Working towards its motto,this event helped children enjoy some merriment. Along with supporting five NGOs in Pune,Blossom also supports three NGOs in Gurgaon.
Bharari award-winner
City-based visually challenged entrepreneur and social worker Rahul Deshmukh has won the Bharari award for this year. The award,instituted by Kolhapur-based organisation ‘Helpers of the Handicapped’,was given to Deshmukh for not only overcoming his disability but also for imparting computer education to other visually chjallenged people. The award was given on December 4 in Kolhapur by Magsaysay Award winner Neelima Mishra.
