Army chief visits Command hq

General VK Singh,Chief of Army Staff,visited the Southern Command headquarters here on Tuesday.

Gen Singh was received by Lt Gen A K Singh,Southern Army Commander,who briefed him on the operational readiness and administrative aspects of the Southern Command. The Army chief later addressed officers of the the tri-services at the Defence Institute of Advance Technology,Girinagar.

The Army chief spoke to the officers about the security scenario and the challenges that it posed for the Army.

He urged them to constantly upgrade their skills to enable absorption of newer technologies,said a press release issued by the Southern Command.

Gen Singh’s wife Bharti Singh,president,Central Army Wives Welfare Organisation (AWWA), was welcomed by Suneeti Singh,regional president,AWWA,Southern Command.

She lauded the support given by them towards various welfare activities for the Jawans and their families. She also visited the Paraplegic Rehabilitation Centre,Khadki.
