All problems solved,Mundhwa thana still non-functional

Some senior police officers thought that the available land was not adequate; even the parking space was not sufficient. But on May 6,Pune police commissioner Satyapal Singh personally assessed the venue and found it was good enough for a police station. Instructions were given from police commisisonerate for final touches to the police station.

The PMC also agreed to give five gunthas of land from its hospital site located opposite the Mudhwa chowky to the police station for parking purpose. With things in place,a board saying Mundhwa PS was put up at the venue but the thana has not started functioning yet.

Mundhwa corporator Sunil Gaikwad said police have not even taken the possession of the land given by the PMC. “Police have to submit an affidavit signed by the police commissioner to the PMC for possession of the land. But they have not done it yet. I don’t understand why the police is delaying the starting of the police station,” said Gaikwad.

When contacted,Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone IV) Jalinder Supekar told The Indian Express that some interior work was left. “Once the work is over,we would start functioning.” But he could not specify the approximate time for completing the work.
