Adsool proposes 5 divisions for UoP

Former acting vice-chancellor of the University of Pune (UoP) Arun Adsool has proposed five divisions of the university on the basis of various streams. “The division should be based on the streams,instead of geographies ,” said Adsool.

He has proposed five universities – education,science,pharmacy-homoeopathy,engineering and arts-commerce-law. “I feel that there should be a wide discussion on the bifurcation process of the UoP. I will be forwarding my proposal to the chief minister and higher and technical education minister soon,” he said. Adsool’s proposal has come in the backdrop of state government setting up a committee under the chairmanship of former UoP vice chancellor Ram Takawale for bifurcating Pune,Mumbai and Nagpur varsities. Adsool also said the bifurcation process should be done keeping in view the changes that would take place in coming years due to technology.Adsool also urged that there should not be insistence on retaining the UoP brand name in the process of bifurcation.
