97 players on auction for 3rd MPL season

The Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) has released a list of rules for players’ auction for the next edition of the Maharashtra Premier League.

The Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) has released a list of rules for players’ auction for the next edition of the Maharashtra Premier League (MPL).

The third edition will see 97 players being auctioned. These include 18 who have quit their franchisee; seven who have been released by their franchisees; 30 not auctioned from last year’s auction pool and 42 new players who have been selected by the MCA.

The auction,will be open and see all players in the pool at the same base price of Rs 15,000,with a fixed incremental bid of Rs 3,000. While teams will have no limitation on maximum players in their squad,the minimum has been fixed at 14.

In another rule,the auctioned amount of a player,who quits the franchisee,or a player whom a franchisee has released,cannot be carried forward for the next auction. Similarly,the balance with the franchisees after the last auction shall not be carried forward for this year’s auction. Rs 4 lakh have been allotted to franchisees to buy players from this year’s auction pool.

The new MPL will see Shivenri Lions under a new owner,as the last owner has decided to surrender the franchisee. Shivneri Lions shall go under the hammer on October 16,with a base price of Rs 5 lakh and a fixed incremental bid of Rs 10,000. The new owner shall get two days after the auction for releasing any existing player.

MCA said Aditya Dole,who played for the Pratapgad Warriors has left the MCA,and will not feature in the third MPL.
