8 get life term for murder

Eight persons were sentenced to life imprisonment by the sessions court on Friday for allegedly murdering a youth following a dispute in 2008.

Eight persons were sentenced to life imprisonment by the sessions court on Friday for allegedly murdering a youth following a dispute in 2008.

The accused are identified as Sayyal Ali (26),Abbas Ali Sayyad (39),Ayub Kahn (34),Tabrej Mankar (29),Ram Jogdand (24),Vaijnath Gaikwad (23),Magdum Sayyad (23),Munya alias Muneer Shaikh (25),all residents of Kasewadi,Bhavani Peth. Additional sessions judge V K Shewale passed the order. The accused had murdered Akram Mujeeb Shaikh (20) of Kondhwa in the early hours of December 17,2008.

Akram was a vendor of music CDs in Camp area. The accused had attacked Akram and his brother Mohammed Mujeeb Shaikh with sharp weapons following past enmity. Akram had died on the spot,while Mohammed had escaped with injuries.

A complaint was lodged with the Khadak police by Akram’s friend Firoz Chand Shaikh,a resident of Kondhwa. Police inspectors Rajendra Kadam and Chandrakant Sangle investigated the case and additional public prosecutors D T Sonar and Kashinath Dighe examined 20 witnesses in the case. None of the eyewitnesses turned hostile.
