7 rickshaws recovered from history-sheeter

The police have recovered seven autorickshaws,worth Rs four lakh from a history-sheeter,Ashok Chandrakant Dhere (32),of Swargate.

Acting on a tip-off,the Swargate police team led nabbed Dhere in Maharshinagar area on Thursday. He confessed to stealing the autorickshaws in Pune and other cities.

The police said Dhere rented the vehicles to rickshaw drivers for Rs 150 a day,after changing the registration numbers.

The police have also recovered a two-wheeler from Dehere,which he had stolen from Mundhwa. Dhere,who hails from Ahmednagar used to be an autorickshaw driver and has 11 autorickshaw theft cases against his name,police said.
