60 men held for gambling

A team of anti-organised crime cell of Pune police arrested 60 people involved in gambling from the premises of a Ganesh mandal.

A team of anti-organised crime cell of Pune police arrested 60 people involved in gambling from the premises of a Ganesh mandal in the jurisdiction of Samarth police station on Saturday.

Based on a tip-off by informants of Dattatray Temghare,police came to know that about 60 men were involved in teen patti,andar-bahar and matka on the premises of Viresh Ganesh mandal on Barne Road. In a well planned raid a member of Ganesh mandal,Irappa Kumbhar (57) was also held. Police also recovered cash,stacks of playing cards and other items for gambling worth Rs 45,000.

Sanjay Bhambure,senior police inspector with Samarth police station,said,“The arrested persons were produced in the court and were released on bail.”
