In the brief video, D’Silva said that the man, who is unknown to her, chased her two-wheeler in his car for a couple of kilometres, finally forced her to stop, and then assaulted her. She was travelling with two young children at that time.

Speaking to The Indian Express later, D’Silva detailed what happened on Saturday afternoon. She said that she had a day off on Saturday and decided to take the two kids, who are from her building and are about to go to Canada, for lunch. She was travelling from Hadapsar to a Baner restaurant for lunch when the incident happened at about 1.30 pm.

“On Baner Road, a white car was ahead of me driving slowly. I honked to get by, so instead of clearing he started blocking me deliberately, this happened for two kilometres. At Mahabaleshwar signal, I asked him why he was doing this. He became furious and opened the door, sensing that something bad would happen, I drove off and took a turn on the Baner-Pashan Link Road and parked there waiting for him to go away,” said D’Silva.

The man, however, followed her, parked his car got down and started assaulting her, she said. “I saw that there was a woman on the passenger’s seat. The man got down from his driver’s seat and without saying a word or listening to me, he just grabbed me by my t-shirt, lifted me up and started punching. I blanked out for ten seconds. As a crowd had started gathering at the spot and they started to intervene, he started to get back into the car trying to flee. I somehow managed to rush to the car and remove the car key which I eventually gave to the police,” said D’Silva.
