450 physically-challenged get free Jaipur foot

The Saint Alphonsa Church,Kalewadi in association with Rajastan Hospital,Ahmedabad and the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) distributed free of cost Jaipur foot,polio calipers and tricycles to more than 450 physically-challenged persons.

The camp,which was organised at the premises of Saint Alphonsa church Kalewadi,was inaugurated by Father Shibbu,director of Social Activites of Syro Malabar Church,Kalyan Dioceses.

Tricycles were distributed by Vijaya Sutar,chairperson PCMC ‘D’ ward. Father T Benny,Parish Priest of Aphonsa,organiser of the camp T D Paulson,Dr S D Hundyal,Dr C K Jain,Ginu Augustin trustee,Alphonsa church and PCMC corporator Babu Nair,were present on the occasion.

During the camp,about 175 Jaipur foot,75 polio calipers,100 crutches,25 walkers,four tricycles and 80 special shoes were distributed free of cost to the physically-challenged persons from Pune,Pimpri-Chinchwad,Beed,Osmanabad,Satara,Gulburga and other areas.

The Alponsa Church has declared 2009 as a Social Responsibility Year. Accordingly,this camp was organised for the physically-challenged. The patients and their relatives were provided free accommodation and food.
