A total of 39 students from the Pune Municipal Corporation-run Rajiv Gandhi Academy of E-Learning have cleared the IIT JEE Advanced examination.
“This year, we had 170 students in total, of which 22 went for medical coaching and the rest for engineering coaching. Fifty per cent of our students come from economically weaker sections of the society who are given free education and the other 50 per cent pays fees,” said Sanjay Singh, principal, junior college section of the RGAEL.

“This year, none of the EWS students could qualify. But then this was the first Class 12th batch at the school. We are hopeful that from next year onwards, even EWS students will get qualified for IIT and medical entrance,” Singh said.
The institute has a tie-up with Pace Education Trust, a coaching institution. “We have been training these students for the past two years. One of the students, Udayan Joshi, got all-India rank 90 in IIT Advanced. A total of 69 students had qualified for IIT Advanced, of which 39 have cleared it,” said Vikash Tiwari of the Pace Education Trust.
“This year, we have a batch of over 200 students. We teach all students from EWS category free of cost and from the rest we take a fee,” Tiwari said.
