The Pune city police arrested three people for allegedly attacking a student preparing for competitive examinations in the early hours of Wednesday.

According to the Vishrambag police, Balaji Yallapa Arote (19), a native of Maharashtra’s Nanded district, shifted to Pune a few months to prepare for competitive examinations. He lives near the Hatti Ganpati temple in Sadashiv Peth and regularly visits a nearby library, they added.

While returning home from the library with his friends Kunal Shewale and Om Bhillare, he was intercepted near Shakti Sports on the Tilak Road around 2 am by three people on a two-wheeler, according to the police.
