The crime branch of the Pune police has arrested a gang of three persons who had allegedly robbed a gas agency owner Dinesh Rajda (67)of cash worth Rs 1.97 lakh from near Amar heights on Aundh road on March 8.
The suspects have been identified as Satish Maruti Ghisadi alias Salunke (28) of Dapodi,Hussain Mehboob Shaikh (22) and Prakash Chintamani Shinde (31),both from of Bopkhelgaon.
Police have seized three mobile phones,some cash,a handbag and the motorcycle used in the crime from the suspects.
Police said that Rajda owns a gas agency at Bopodi. He was going on a two-wheeler for depositing the cash in a bank on Khadki Aundh Road. At around 2.25 pm,the suspects intercepted him near Amar heights on the Aundh Road.
They hurled chilli powder into his eyes and escaped with his bag carrying the money.
Acting on a tip-off by police naik Pandurang Wanjale of the anti extortion cell of crime branch,the police team laid a trap and nabbed the suspects near Moshi Naka on the Pune Nashik Road. Police said that all the three suspects have a criminal record.
