286 cadets in fresh NDA batch

As many as 286 cadets have joined the the 124 th National Defence Academy (NDA) course. There are 168 Army cadets in the batch,17 Naval cadets and 59 Air Force cadets besides 42 others whose services have not been allotted so far.

As many as 286 cadets have joined the the 124 th National Defence Academy (NDA) course. There are 168 Army cadets in the batch,17 Naval cadets and 59 Air Force cadets besides 42 others whose services have not been allotted so far. The 286 cadets also include one cadet from Kazakhstan ,five from Tajikistan and four from Afghanistan .

The NDA is currently training 85 foreign cadets that include eight each from Bhutan and Maldives ,34 from Afghanistan ,26 from Tajikistan and nine from Kazakhstan . The cadets were welcomed by Vice Admiral Satish Soni,AVSM ,NM ,commandant,NDA. Addressing the officers and cadets at the commencement of the new term,the commandant stressed on the importance of self discipline,character building and physical fitness besides widening the knowledge horizon,which is the backbone of the institution of the armed forces. He also emphasized on the need for the cadets to train themselves hard physically and mentally to be able to face the challenges of the technologically oriented future battlefield.

“The cadets should make use of the facilities available at the academy- be it for shooting,horse riding,games,watermanship training,air force or language training along with computer- based training packages,” he said.

The NDA has recently upgraded its infrastructure in terms of building a slopping jetty,installation of a horse riding simulator and moving target at the shooting range.

The commandant finally wished the 124 th course the best wishes for their meaning ful training and a successful military career.
