2 arrested for extortion bid

The anti-extortion wing of the city police have arrested two persons for threatening a city-based builder. The police arrested him after the builder lodged a complaint with the police stating unidentified people were calling him and his family members for money and threatening to kill them,if he did not pay up. He also made ransom demands from time to time.

Following the complaint,the anti-extortion team of the city police nabbed Brijlal alias Bhaya Sukhiram Yadav (20),a resident of Aundh Road on Saturday. During investigations,Yadav revealed the name of his associates,following which the police arrested Ravindra Hanumant Rane alias Ravindra Bajrang Lonare,a resident of Kalewadi in Chinchwad.

The police recovered a stolen gold chain worth Rs. 45,000 from the accused.
