Woodside Again

Woodside Inn,the quaint and compact bar in Colaba, opened a branch in Andheri last night.

Woodside Inn,the quaint and compact bar in Colaba, opened a branch in Andheri last night. But the neighborhood bar, known for it’s charming interiors and heritage exteriors, will be dropping the word ‘Inn’ from it’s name, sticking to just Woodside.

“The new place in Andheri isn’t in a heritage building,” reasons Pankil Shah, partner in Neighbourhood Hospitality Management Services that owns Woodside Inn. “So we’re just going with Woodside followed by the line ‘All day bar and eatery’.” The Inn is housed in a 120-year-old heritage building and the artwork on its walls are images of charming structures in and around its neighbourhood.

The new property, situated next to the police station on Oshiwara Link Road,is twice as large as the one in Colaba with a seating capacity of 80 people. While it might not be able to replicate the charm of the original for several reasons, the new Woodside is hoping to draw inspiration from it’s new surroundings. “While we’re keeping the casual warmth that defines us,we’re drawing a lot of energy from the neighbourhood for our décor,” says Shah. “Andheri is an upcoming suburb — it’s young, vibrant and has a lot of influences from the entertainment industry. Our décor will definitely reflect that.”

The bar will play the same casual music its patrons have come to enjoy and the menu will remain almost the same. Initially,Woodside will be open only for dinner because they’d like to resolve any “teething issues and get their service in order”,before introducing full service, including an all-day breakfast menu,in the next 10 days.
