An unidentified man dropped off a large travel bag stuffed with the body of a woman on platforms 8 and 9 of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) on Wednesday morning.
The suitcase was found near the Sinhagad Express around 10.30 am. The CCTV footage shows an unidentified man alighting from the Sinhagad Express,leaving the bag on the platform and walking away,said the police.
Once he is identified,we will be able to take the case forward. The womans photograph and the CCTV footage have been sent to all railway stations for identification, said Prabhat Kumar,Joint Commissioner,Government Railway Police (GRP).
Police sources said the body of the woman,who was 4.9 feet tall and in her early 30s,was stuffed in an old trolley bag. Railway staff informed the Railway Protection Force (RPF) after the unclaimed bag was found.
The RPF rushed to the spot with a dog squad but did not find any explosives. The GRP was intimated and handed over the CCTV footage for investigation.
