The sequel to the hugely popular epic fantasy drama Chandrakanta is set to go on air from June 6. Titled Kahani Chandrakanta Ki,the show will be telecast on Sahara One. The

series will focus on the love story of Shiv Dutt’s daughter Kishori and Chandrakanta’s son Indrajeet. The family feud will result in an overload of adventure with magical twists and turns. The fantasy drama,however,will bring back the super successful characters of Princess Chandrakanta,Kroor Singh,Pundit Jagannath,Badrinath and others.

When Vishal Bhardwaj unveiled journalist Hussain S Zaidi’s book Mafia Queens of Mumbai,the filmmaker admitted that he was impressed enough by the stories to adapt one of them into a film. Always intrigued by stories of strong women,Bhardwaj,apart from writing a foreword to the much-anticipated book,has already begun researching for this project. And while he refuses to admit which of the 13 women in the book will be portrayed on the big screen,the buzz is that it will be Jenabai. Known to most only as a Gandhian freedom fighter and later as a bootlegger,this lady apparently had more hold on the underworld than the lure of money and power does. She was a trusted confidante to Haji Mastan,Karim Lala as well as Dawood Ibrahim. These men are said to have consulted her in times of need and trouble. Now,it only remains to be seen who Bhardwaj will choose to get into Jenabai’s shoes in his screen adaptation.

Channel V’s resident beauty on duty has bagged a new job. Anuradha Menon,the on-screen geek and off-screen beauty is in Milan Luthria’s The Dirty Picture. The Chennai babe is set to play a journalist in this biopic. Her part,from what we hear,will be that of a film scribe who tracks Silk Smitha’s scandals as she watches the actress’ rise and eventual fall. Vidya Balan portrays Silk Smitha in the movie which also has Naseeruddin Shah,Emraan Hashmi and Tusshar Kapoor. The film goes on floors this month.
