An undertrail on Friday hurled a shoe at special MCOCA judge Y D Shinde. It missed the judge.

The incident occurred after hearing of undertrial Ganesh Ambhore’s plea was adjourned. He had moved a plea seeking permission to kill himself stating he was tired of being behind bars. He said he did not want to live as he was suffering from AIDS.

Sources said the judge adjourned hearing as Ambhore’s lawyers were not present in court. Ambhore had been arrested under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act for allegedly firing at Krishna Devendra, another undertrial, outside the Sewree court in 2006. Five others were also arrested in the case.

Soon after the incident, the co-accused in the case assaulted Ambhore. Police intervened and took them away from the courtroom. The judge remained unfazed and continued with the proceedings.

While being taken out of the court,Ambhore shouted that his case had been delayed for 24 months and the prosecution couldn’t produce witnesses.
