Uddhav Thackeray holds ‘courtesy meet’ with Ajit Pawar, a first since NCP split
The meeting comes after Ajit Pawar held three meetings with Sharad Pawar, following a virtual split in the NCP

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray on Wednesday held a “courtesy meeting” with Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra Ajit Pawar. This was the first meeting between the two leaders since Pawar engineered a vertical split in the NCP before becoming the Deputy CM.
After the meeting, Thackeray said, “I asked him to do good work for the state and people. I am confident that people of the state will get aid because he has the keys to the treasury.”

The development comes amid the ongoing monsoon session in Maharashtra with a split NCP in attendance. It was also his first visit to the legislature after deputy chairperson Neelam Gorhe, his one-time party colleague, joined the Shinde-led rival Shiv Sena.
NCP leaders, including Pawar, Praful Patel and Chhagan Bhujbal, have called on Sharad Pawar thrice in the past week seeking a united party, but have got no answers from the veteran leader.
Meanwhile, Thackeray attended the meeting with Ajit Pawar and the monsoon session of the state Assembly, a day after returning from Bengaluru, where 26 Opposition parties agreed upon naming the anti-NDA alliance for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls INDIA — Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance.
