The police have now booked the two minor accused under Sections 302 (murder), 364 (kidnapping in order to murder), 363 (kidnapping) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code. The boys were taken to a juvenile home following the legal procedure. (File) The Maharashtra Police Wednesday arrested 28 people in connection with a clash between two groups in the Nandurbar district.
The police claimed that the incident took place at around 11.15 pm Tuesday, in which seven police personnel were injured and it was brought under control within an hour.
According to police officials, one of the arrested accused had gone to the Maharashtra Vyayam Shala area in Nandurbar, which is also known as Juna Bell Bazar.
“The man is a 30-year-old who has married a woman staying in that area, so he had gone there to meet her. His friend accompanied him,” said an officer.
Around 11 pm, there was an altercation between the man and a resident, after which a mob gathered. Subsequently, the dispute was resolved, the officer said.
“But on his way out of the area, the 30-year-old allegedly pelted a stone at the mob and the law and order situation in the area went out of control after the mob retaliated,” the officer added,
Soon after the police control room was informed, teams were deputed to the spot and they brought the situation under control.
“We had to use tear gas to control the situation,” said an officer. Seven police officials, including three officers, sustained injuries in the incident.
“We are looking for several other individuals, including the 30-year-old’s friend, who escaped after the incident,” said an officer.
