Mumbai: Two arrested for extortion

Two of four persons who allegedly threatened to throw an event manager from his 15th floor balcony to extort Rs 1 lakh from him were arrested by Goregaon police late Friday.

Two of four persons who allegedly threatened to throw an event manager from his 15th floor balcony to extort Rs 1 lakh from him were arrested by Goregaon police late Friday.

Complainant Jaydeep Budruk, who lives in Goregaon’s Imperial Heights, had approached police after four men barged into his home last Wednesday. In May, Budruk had received an extortion call from the accused, which he ignored.

On June 29, four men allegedly barged into his home and assaulted him. They demanded Rs 1 lakh and threatened to throw Budruk off his flat. Then he paid them Rs 25,000 and asked them to collect the rest on Friday evening. On Friday, when only accused Krushna Dubey and Mohammad Shaikh visited him for the remaining money, the police nabbed them. The police are on the lookout for the remaining two accused.
