Train derails near Chiplun

A coach of the Diva-Sawantwadi passenger train derailed near Chiplun around 2 pm on Friday,which led to a delay of trains headed to southern states.

The Konkan Railway train was coming to Diva,Mumbai,when the derailment occurred at Kante station and it took nearly six hours for the route to be restored.

Sources said some work was being carried out on the track and the train was running at 30-35 km/h speed.

The Trivandrum-Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express is running late by around four hours following the mishap.

A Central Railway spokesperson said no delay had been reported on its routes.
