Top seeds impress

Top seeded Simran Singhi and third seeded Janhavi routed their respective rivals Rohini Keni and Diya Patel on their way to the girls under-13 singles quarterfinals of the Li-Ning- JVPGC District badminton championships.

Top seeded Simran Singhi and third seeded Janhavi Jagtap treated their opening under-13 girls singles ties more like a warming up exercise as they routed their respective rivals Rohini Keni and Diya Patel on their way to the girls under-13 singles quarterfinals of the Li-Ning- JVPGC District badminton championships for the suburbs,hosted by Juhu Vile Parle Gymkhana Club here today. Simran beat Rohni 30-7,while bespectacled Janhavi displayed pleasing strokeplay and court coverage as she toyed with Diya before winning her tie 30-17.

Atharva Joshi,struggled past Sahil Oak before he moved in the last 16 with a 30-29 victory in the boys under-10 singles. Others to move into the pre-quarters were Aditya Uchil,who beat Siddharth Bhuta 30-27,Mann Gajra,a 30-25 winner over Harshil Doshi and Vivek Venkat,who got past Rahul Dagaonkar 30-20..
