Three die of monsoon-related diseases,toll reaches 33

Deaths due to monsoon-related diseases reached 33 (since July 1) with three more deaths reported by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation epidemiology department on Friday.

Deaths due to monsoon-related diseases reached 33 (since July 1) with three more deaths reported by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) epidemiology department on Friday. A 20-year-old youth from Goregaon succumbed to leptospirosis,six days after he was admitted to Sion Hospital,on Thursday.

A 45-year-old man died of plasmodium falciparum malaria hours after admission on July 23. Fever claimed a 23-year-old youth from Mahalaxmi who died at Nair Hospital on Thursday,a day after he was admitted.

Meanwhile,admissions continue in civic,state and private hospitals. As many as 238 cases of fever,99 of gastroenteritis,seven cases of suspected leptospirosis and 92 cases of suspected malaria are being treated.
