For a while now,Bonobo,a restobar in Bandra, has been occassionally hosting live acts. But with the Naked Comedy Festival: Stripped to the Funny Bone, the popular restobar is making an attempt at moving entertainment out of their bar and into an auditorium. Hosted by Ashwin Mushran, the stand-up comedy show has a line-up of nine comedians from the country, including the likes of Papa CJ from Delhi and Saurabh Pant from Mumbai.
All around the world,stand-up comedy is one of the top three forms of entertainment, says Nevil Timbadia,a partner in Bonobo. With this festival,we want to explore the potential at a larger scale.
The shows will be held at St Andrews Auditorium,Bandra, for a duration of two-and-a-half hours and will feature seven artistes per day. It will also have a 30-minute intermission wherein guests will be greeted by clowns, stilt walkers and shops in the foyer.
The Naked Comedy Festival is currently slated for Mumbai on October 7 and 8 at St Andrews Auditorium. However,Timbadia plans on taking the same line-up to Delhi early next year. Were looking at this as an annual property, he says. From the next segment onwards,we hope to include international artists as well.
