The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB) on Saturday organised a technology transfer programme to acquaint industries about IITB technology that can be useful in their product development and research.
As many as 40 technologies developed by faculty members and research students of the institute were on display at the institutes Industrial Research and Consultancy Centre (IRCC) during the event called TechConnect.
The event was divided into six industry-oriented themes like manufacturing, information communication technology, defence, energy, healthcare and processing. Several research and development companies from India and abroad had registered for the event with an aim to commercialise or do research collaborations with the participants from IITB.
Rahul Jain, media coordinator,TechConnect, said,Universities across the world have been contributing towards the technological and economic growth of their countries. The IITB being one of the premier institutes in the country can provide innovations and solutions to the industries that are on the lookout for innovation from outside their own internal research and development departments.
At the event,we are primarily focusing on small and medium scale enterprises as the bigger companies are already aware of the kind of technologies IITB produces, said Viraj Shah,TechConnect.
One of the technologies on display was Water and Wastewater Renovation Using Constructed Soil Filter that uses a green biological wastewater purification process ideal for communities, small to-medium townships, cities, industries, golf courses, turf clubs, software parks and malls. Other technologies included designing of seismically stable dams, multi purpose electric vehicle, biodiesel making process, treating cancer cell by heat and drug by magnetic nanoparticulates, radiation shield designed to absorb undesired electromagnetic radiation from mobile phone,TV towers,IT for agriculture, mobile phone jammers and herbal oil extraction process.
