What is the premise of Emotional Atyachaar? And what is your role?
It’s an emotional show; it deals with the concerns of today’s youth. They’re always looking to go ahead in life,in the best possible way and this show helps them do that. Emotional Atyachaar will definitely catch the eye of the audience.
I’m the face of the show. I put things in context for the viewers and I befriend the participants. That way, they can tell me their problems and I can, hopefully, guide them.

Could you clarify that a bit? What will actually be happening on the show?
This is a show for young couples. If one partner suspects the other of infidelity, they approach the show and we put the suspected partner through a series of tests. If it removes the doubts from the other half’s mind, they can lead a better life together.

Isn’t that a bit drastic? It almost sounds like an invasion of privacy.
It’s not that at all. These couples are approaching the show themselves. They all think they’re 21st century youngsters with liberal ideas. But the question is,are they really? Love is supposed to be a pure emotion and you don’t get find your love easily. And yet, these youngsters are so impatient with it; they’re not willing to give it a chance and work hard at it. That’s the mindset that this show is trying to examine. Of course, there are also a few couples on the show who believe in the old-fashioned notions of love and fidelity.

There have been other shows which have examined romantic relationships, such as Splistvilla on MTV,Dare 2 Date on Channel V and Pati,Patni Aur Woh on NDTV Imagine. Is this a new trend in reality television?
I don’t see this show as being part of anything that’s happened before. There may be something in what you say,but I’m not aware of any trend,as such. What I can tell you is that Emotional Atyachaar is going to big and it’s going to be a trend-setter,not the other way round.

In general, who are the people who’ve approached the show?
These are real people, not actors. They represent today’s youth, who’re an impatient lot,but who’re not afraid to be themselves and face their problems head on.
