Talking point with Maria Goretti

What took you so long to return to TV?
I was busy with my kids for a while. My daughter just turned two a couple of months ago and joined play school. I had some free time at hand and hence decided to explore prospects in television. Although I missed working,I enjoyed my break,taking care of my kids and managing the house. I had a lot of options in mind,but then I realised that the entertainment industry is best suited to me.

Why did you choose a culinary show for a comeback?
I have always enjoyed watching culinary shows on television and also enjoy experimenting with food. During my break I also learnt to cook a bit and I do enjoy it. I’m also a chocoholic and I love gooey,yummy chocolate. Moreover,when NDTV Good Times came up to me with the concept I thought it was a great opportunity to explore something new on television. These are the many reasons why I chose to work on this show.

How would you rate yourself as a cook?
I haven’t had any elaborate training in cooking,but I love cooking for my friends. I am very good with Lebanese and Italian food. My kids love the lasagna and pasta I make. I also make some delicious smoked salmon and a bit of Mexican. My grandmother was an amazing cook and made some awesome orange marmalade.

What is the one dessert that you learnt to make on the show?
I learnt to make the best mousse ever. I also learnt to make crème brulee. Although I haven’t tried making it at home,I am sure it will turn out well.

Are films next on the agenda?
One actor in the family is definitely more than enough. And Arshad (Warsi) is definitely doing a good job of it.
