The CBI had booked NDTV promoters Prannoy Roy and Radhika Roy and others for allegedly violating foreign direct investment (FDI) rules in a 2007-09 investment, a charge denied by the company.

In an FIR registered on August 19, the CBI alleged that between 2004 and 2010, NDTV floated 32 subsidiaries in tax havens and brought FDI to the tune of several hundred crores of rupees into its various channels.

Sebi had barred Prannoy and Radhika Roy and RRPR Holdings--from the markets for two years and also restrained the Roys from holding any board/top management positions in the firm during this period.

The Roy couple was also been barred from holding a board or key managerial position at any other listed company for one year, Sebi said while coming down heavily on them and RRPR Holdings Pvt Ltd.
