Shiv Sena UBT leader and MLC Anil Parab Friday said that his party will move the Supreme Court seeking disqualification of three former Sena UBT MLCs including Legislative council chairperson Neelam Gorhe who joined the Shiv Sena led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.
This comes days after top court directed Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar to expedite the disposal of the disqualification petitions of Shiv Sena MLAs.
Gorhe, along with Sena UBT MLCs Manisha Kayande and Viplov Bajoria, joined Shinde-led Sena before the Monsoon Session of state Assembly following which the Sena UBT had filed disqualification petitions against the three MLCs.
Parab said that despite filing the petition in July, there has been no action taken on the matter and the party would move the top court seeking their disqualification.
“Gorhe, who is the chairperson (of the Legislative council), herself is facing the removal petition… She cannot hear her own disqualification plea in her capacity as acting Chairperson. A panel chairperson has to be appointed to hear the disqualification plea which hasn’t been done yet. Just like the rebel Sena MLAs, these rebel MLCs would also be disqualified,” Parab said.
“We had filed the petition in July 21. We have also given reminders for the same. Ff no action is taken, then just like in the cases of MLAs, we will approach the apex court in the case of the MLCs disqualification,” he said.
Parab further said that in case of disqualification of MLAs, the process was started only after the SC rebuked the Speaker. “Now also no action has been taken. Only notices were issued and no actual hearing began. The process is being delayed by giving reasons,” he said.

On July 17, the Sena UBT had submitted a petition for disqualification of Gorhe as MLC to state legislative secretary and showing no confidence on her had sought her removal as a chairperson of legislative council.
While Bajoria was the first MLC to switch over to the Shinde-led Sena in February and the Shiv Sena had issued a letter seeking appointment of Bajoria as its whip in the legislative council, Kayande and Gorhe had joined party in June and July respectively.
Will hear pleas next week : Speaker
Meanwhile, Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar on Friday said he will hear the disqualification petitions filed against each other by rival Sena factions led next week.
Speaking about his visit to Delhi, Narvekar told mediaperson Friday: “The disqualification laws are evolving with time and hence to understand that I had meet some experts in Delhi.”
