Segment-wise show puts Cong,NCP on top

Assembly segment-wise performance of various parties in the Lok Sabha poll shows that for the 60 seats in Mumbai region (36 in Mumbai and 24 in Thane district),the Congress-NCP has a lot to cheer if the trends in the assembly polls ahead remain more or less the same.

The segmentwise break-up shows that the Congress had the upper hand in 26 Assembly segments,and the NCP in 11.

The Shiv Sena secured a lead in only seven constituencies,and the BJP in six. New entrants MNS had taken the lead in four Assembly constituencies,while Independent candidates were ahead in six Assembly segments. 

In the reconstituted Mumbai South Lok Sabha constituency,Congress candidate Milind Deora led in five of the six Assembly segments,while MNS candidate Bala Nandgaonkar led in Sewri segment.

In Worli,which has been traditionally voting for the Sena,Milind Deora gathered 39,284 votes followed by Nandgaonkar with 38,089 votes. Shiv Sena’s former MP from the region,Mohan Rawale,came third with 30,751 votes. In the BJP stronghold of Mumbadevi,it was again Congress candidate Deora who led with 54,186 votes,followed by Rawale at 12,511 and Nandgaonkar with 10,135.  

In Sewri,Nandgaonkar had shot ahead with 48,738 votes followed by Rawale with 37,454 votes and Deora with 27,235.

Surprisingly,Deora has also taken a lead in Byculla,with 50,177 votes. Nandgaonkar followed with 26,301 and Rawale with 14,855. Deora retained the party’s dominance in Malabar Hill and Colaba with 53,357 and 48,167 votes respectively.

In Mumbai North Lok Sabha constituency,BJP’s Ram Naik led in Borivali,Dahisar and Charkop Assembly segments but was downed by the huge lead MNS candidate Shirish Parker got from Magathane,and Congress candidate Sanjay Nirupam got in Kandivali (East) and Malad (West) segments,which made Nirupam the winner. 

In Mumbai North Central,Congress candidate Priya Dutt led from the start in all the six assembly segments. 

In Mumbai South Central,the Sena’s Suresh Gambhir got a lead only in Mahim assembly segment,while Congress MP Eknath Gaikwad swept Chembur,Dharavi,Sion-Koliwada,Wadala and Anushakti Nagar. 

In Mumbai North East,NCP MP Sanjay Patil managed got more votes than BJP’s Kirit Somaiya in BJP strongholds of Ghatkopar (East),Ghatkopar (West),Bhandup and Mankhurd.

MNS’s Shishir Shinde took away maximum votes from Vikroli. Somaiya had a lead only in Mulund.

In Mumbai North West,Congress candidate Gurudas Kamat gathered more votes in the Sena stronghold of Dindoshi and Goregaon than Sena’s sitting MLA Gajanan Kirtikar. Kamat also led in Versova,Andheri (East) and (West) segments. Kirtikar had a lead only in Jogeshwari (East). 

In Bhiwandi,Congress led in three assembly segments,MNS led in one and an Independent led in two.

Congress candidate Kashinath Taware led in Bhiwandi West and East besides Murbad. MNS candidate Devraj Mhatre led in Kalyan West and Vishwanath Patil won in Bhiwandi rural and Shahapur.

In Kalyan constituency,NCP had the upper hand in three assembly segments and Sena in three. NCP’s Vasant Davkhare was the winner in Ambernath,Ulhasnagar and Mumbra,while Anand Paranjape was the one ho got the most votes in Kalyan,Dombivali and Kalyan Rural segments. 

In Thane,NCP’s Sanjeev Naik got more votes in Mira-Bhayander,Ovala-Majiwada,Airoli and Belapur. Sena candidate Vijay Chaugule leading in Kopri and Thane only. 

In Palghar,Independent candidate Baliram Jadhav took the lead in Boisar,Nalasopara and Vasai,BJP candidate Vanga won in Vikramgar and Palghar,while CPI (M) candidate led in Dahanu.
