LIS celebrates annual fiesta
On February 16,Leo International School (LIS),Kalher,organised its annual fiesta,Leo Triumph,to mark successful completion of the second academic year.
Bollywood Dreams was the theme of the event in which students exhibited their talent.
The event depicted past and present of the Hindi film industry and its influence on society.
Ronak Ali Akbar,deputy general manager,The Indian Express; Manish Doshi,manager,Cambridge University Press; Bipin Pote,secretary,Dattakrupa Education Society; Anand Karwa,industrialist; Piyush Sen,member of Young Giants Group Bhiwandi,choreographer and director of Piyush Dance Academy; Balkrishna Patil,sarpanch,Kalher,and Rajesh Shandilya of Cambridge University Press were the guests of honour.
Entire staff of LIS Nilam Patil,school head; Sandhya Shetty,project head; Pratima Gupte,managing director; Mahesh Jain,managing trustee; Vikas Jain,secretary,and Manoj Jain,president,Jainum Inter-Education Organization Trust,contributed equally to the success of Leo Triumph.
DAV School gets its moment of pride
DAV Public School,Thane,has once again created a niche among the educational institutions in Thane and Mumbai. The initiatives undertaken by the school have been recognised and appreciated by competent authorities from time to time.
A Certificate of Appreciation was presented to the school for its active participation and commendable performance in the Dabur Chyawanprash Immune India School Challenge 2012.
The school is acclaimed for the amenities it provides to students in terms of sanitation,health checkups and medical facilities,in addition to academics.
In recognition of the above,an Award of Excellence was presented to the school for meeting the best standards to be the winner Mumbai in the Dabur Chyawanprash Immune India Challenge 2012.
St Lawrence and Jr college joins scouts,guides camp
A District Scouts & Guides rally was organised by the Bharat Scout and Guide District Office,Thane on February 1,2 and at ASP Convent School ,Plot No.8,Sector 9,Ghansoli,Navi Mumbai .
On the First day,Niranjan Davkhare (MLA Kokan Graduate Constituency),L P Mali was the chairman,Ashok Misal Education Officer (Secondary Section) Zilla Parishad Thane,Raghunath Beldar,District Officer,Scouts,and Revati Srinivasan,District Officer,Guides,and others were present. The dignitaries gave thought provoking speeches and encouraged students.
St Lawrence Schools Std VIIth Scouts and Guides comprising 10 boys and 10 girls along with teachers Vishakha Ardekar and Chandrakant Patil went for the rally/ camp along with students.
On first day of the camp,students made a tent and decorated it. The students then joined a flag hoisting ceremony along with the dignitaries. At 7 am on the second day,the officials inspected the tents to check for neatness and cleanliness. Our guides got second prize for tent decoration. Different competitions were organised for students. Students woke up at 6 am the second day. They did physical exercises,after which they performed bamboo display and made three pyramids. Twenty schools participated and St. Lawrence High School got the first prize and certificate.
At 4 pm,there was gadget making competition and our guides bagged the third prize. They also got the consolation prize for cooking food without using utensils.
At the camp,there were different competitions like best out of waste,dance,etc.
After the 3-km rally on the third day,garba was performed. After the prize distribution,the camp programme came to an end. The scouts and guides had a good experience and they learnt to be independent and manage in extreme as well as emergency situations.
Livered NOVA held at Oriental Institute
Livered NOVA,the management and cultural festival of Oriental Institute Of Management and one of the biggest college festivals in Navi Mumbai,ended on a high note Saturday with a power-packed event. It was witness to a bustling 3,000 enthusiastic students at their three-day annual fest. NOVA,in its sixth year of inception,was inaugurated by managing director Waseem Khan and director-general Dr M G Shirahatti.
The festival kicked off with a grand opening followed by a fusion of traditional Bharatnatyam and hip hop. The hard work put in by the teams over the months was clearly visible by the expertise showcased.
The events for the festival were designed with the aim of discovering a students key skills. This also gave participants an opportunity to rub shoulders with the best,focusing on testing ones business acumen and strategy building ability across the four worlds of management: Finance,Marketing,Operations and Human Resources .The events of diverse genres,which attracted young and budding entrepreneurs along with cultural events such as Fashion Show,Group Dance,War of DJs,Face Painting,broke audience records.
The fest aimed to bring together and highlight aspects of the life of a manager and provided a platform for interaction between managers of tomorrow and industry experts of today,said Prof Kanchan Hinduja. The highlight of Angel or Devil was its theme,which spoke of two facets of life. Not only was the theme well received,but also our souvenirs.
This year,for the first time,NOVA souvenirs were a brand in themselves,highlighting self-defence for women.
The over-all winner of the fest was Sanpada College of Commerce & Technologic followed by Oriental Institute of Management themselves and DY Patil College.
