A railway officer is being probed for misuse of his official privileged after he availed his privilege pass to book tickets for him and his wife but was caught traveling with another woman. On May 20,a vigilance team of the Central Railway found Ramesh Kumar, principal of the Railway School in Kalyan, travelling in the AC II coach of the Mangala Express from Kalyan to Chiplun along with a woman who was not his wife. Kumar, owing to his seniority, has a bronze metal pass for himself and family members. The vigilance department has seized the pass and initiated an inquiry against him.

“The vigilance department was tipped off and he was caught red handed as the train left Kalyan,” said a senior railway officer. “If the allegation is proven,a major penalty chargesheet may result in the termination of his service,” said the officer.
