Police step up security measures

The Mumbai police have begun stepping up security in the city for the upcoming civic polls,with preventive measures such as externments being enforced. Sources said 240 people had been externed from a single police zone in the city,with the cops in other zones expected to follow the lead.

A meeting of senior police officers from across the city was held at the Mumbai police headquarters on Friday to finalise security arrangements for the polls,

“The meeting was held by the Mumbai Police Commissioner and was attended by all Deputy Commissioners of Police and higher rank officers across the city. Senior Special Branch officers were also present. The objective was to take stock of security for the civic elections,” said a senior officer.

Special note was taken of preventive action in Zone 11 of the police that covers the Goregaon,Malwani and Borivali police divisions.
