The Shiv Sena-led civic body and the Opposition Congress finally seem to have patched up over the argument on who will inaugurate the memorial of the 26/11 hero Tukaram Ombale at Girgaum Chowpatty. Shiv Sena corporator and Mayor Shraddha Jadhav said,Although the civic body has already planned to invite Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray to inaugurate the memorial of the 26/11 hero,if Congress wants to call Chief Minster Prithviraj Chavan for the inauguration,it will be a good gesture. Both Congress and Shiv Sena were earlier locked in a tussle over who should inaugurate the bronze bust of Ombale next to the already existing memorial of the martyr at Girgaum Chowpatty. The inauguration of the second memorial as a tribute to the 26/11 hero will be done on the third anniversary of the terror attacks which falls on Saturday. Earlier this month,Congress corporator Rajhans Singh had demanded that the inauguration of the memorial be done by Chavan,as the Congress had mooted the proposal for the memorial. The spot where the bust is to be installed already has a memorial built by local BJP MLA Mangal Prabhat Lodha and installed before the second anniversary of the attacks last year.
