Naxal arrested in commando operation

The Gadchiroli police commando unit C-60 along with Cobra Commandos on Friday arrested a Platoon Dalam member,Chaitu Netam,in north Gadchiroli.

Netam,23,has been involved in over 13 crimes in Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh,a police release said. He joined the Korchi Dalam in 2008 and was later shifted to Korchi-Kurkheda-Khobramendha Dalam. He has also worked in Balaghat Dalam before being put in Platoon A,which works in Gondia and Gadchiroli,said the release.

We had information about his presence and had undertaken an operation to nab him, Superintendent of Police Veeresh Prabhu told The Indian Express.

Two days ago,the police had nabbed deputy commander of Potegaon Dalam Lalsu Walko,who was involved in the Pushtola blast that killed 13 CRPF men on March 27.

Prabhu said,Lalsu has confirmed that the blast was organised four days before it was triggered. He has told us that the Naxals knew of the civic action programme at Fulbodi Gatta and were expecting some police movement on the road.
