Navy: Worli building a security threat

The Naval authorities on Friday informed the Bombay High Court that the SRA building at Worli was a security threat as sensitive installations are located nearby.

The court had earlier sought the views of the Naval authorities as well as the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) in a petition moved by a Worli resident against BEST for disconnecting power supply to the 18-storey building in which she stays.

The building,Har Siddhi Heights, termed as a security threat by the Navy, was constructed by the SRA and is located near INS Trata.

Renuka Shah (42),the petitioner and wife of flat-owner Sanket Shah, had stated that BEST officials disconnected the power supply to her building on May 5 without serving any notice or obtaining a valid permission from the authorities concerned. The court on Friday also asked the builder as to how they could give possession of the flat without obtaining the occupation certificate. The lawyer appearing for the Navy said they were opposed to the building in the area in national interest.

The court has sought replies from all parties before next Wednesday.
