The minimum temperature in Mumbai recorded a drop by four degrees Celsius in the past 24 hours. According to the India Meteorology Department's (IMD) observatory in Santacruz, Mumbai's minimum (night) temperature on Sunday stood at 16.3 degrees which was 2.2 degrees below normal. On December 14 (Saturday), the night temperature stood at 20.1 degrees, which was 1.6 degrees above normal. Furthermore, weather officials have maintained that the city’s night temperature will continue to hover below normal level during the first half of this week. “The temperature may rise again after December 18, considering the advancement of easterly winds. At present, the city's overall temperature has seen a fall due to the change in weather pattern,” said a weather official. Over the past few weeks in December, Mumbai recorded multiple cases of extreme weather events. On December 9, Mumbai recorded a night temperature of 13.7 degrees, making it the lowest temperature of the season. On December 4, Mumbai recorded a maximum temperature of 37.3 degrees making it the warmest December day in 16 years.
