Model rams car into another

Model Aparna Sharma was arrested by the Oshiwara police in the early hours of Saturday for ramming her car into another vehicle at Lokhandwala market while returning to her Andheri residence,police said adding that medical tests showed she was not drunk at the time of the incident.

She was later granted bail.

Two persons who were in the other car suffered minor injuries. They were taken to a hospital and were administered first-aid.

In her statement to police,Sharma said she lost control of the car as she was sleepy,police said.

The incident took place at 1.15 am when Sharma was driving towards her Andheri residence.

Sharma was driving her Maruti Suzuki SX4 car and when she reached Lokhandwala market,she lost control. The car swerved and hit a Honda city, said senior police inspector D K Rupawate of Oshiwara Police.

Rupawate said Sharma was arrested following the incident.

We arrested Sharma and was booked her under sections 279 (rash driving),337 (endangering personal safety of others) and 427 (mischief causing damage) of the Indian Penal Code. She was sent for medical tests to ascertain if she was drunk at the time of the incident. Preliminary results showed she was not drunk. However,we are still awaiting blood alcohol test results, said Rupawate.

The offence is bailable in nature. She was allowed to go, said Rupawate.
